West Sussex Wedding Venues

Whether you’re looking for luxury or intimate wedding venues, West Sussex has some fantastic places to get married.

To save you from having to scour lots of different pages on the internet looking for your perfect venue, here are 30 of my favourite venues in the county.

  1. Chichester Cathedral: Chichester Cathedral has a choice of stunning historical venues where you can celebrate your wedding reception. From the beautifully restored Georgian Guest House at 4 Canon Lane to the medieval Vicars’ Hall, there is something to suit all styles of reception, set against the extraordinary backdrop of the 900 year old Cathedral.

  2. Castle Goring: Castle Goring is a magnificent and unique Grade 1 listed 18th-century building regarded as one of the most important houses architecturally in the country. Built several hundred years ago in beautiful grounds surrounded by ancient woodland in the South Downs National Park, this newly restored venue provides the ideal setting for weddings. It was the first house ever built with a dual façade, Greco-Roman on the Southside and Castellated Gothic on the North.

  3. South Lodge: South Lodge is the perfect venue for all seasons. Set within the dramatic South Downs, they have 93 acres of parkland, panoramic views to die for in summer from their outdoor wedding pavilion, and plenty of vibrant colours in the autumn set a theme for your wedding day. They have beautiful candlelit ceremonies and roaring log fires add to the atmosphere of romance when there is a chill in the winter air. In spring they have a striking display of rhododendrons that has to been seen to be fully appreciated.

  4. Cowdray House: Cowdray House is a magical setting for weddings. With its beautiful gardens, impressive architecture and elegant interiors, it is an exceptional exclusive-use venue for civil wedding ceremonies and wedding receptions, it lends itself perfectly to large parties as well as more intimate gatherings, while still retaining the warmth of a family home. The House is located at the heart of the 16,500 acre Cowdray Estate and provides the bridal party with total privacy.

  5. Goodwood House: Set at the heart of 12,000 acres of stunning park and woodland, Goodwood House has hosted family celebrations for over 300 years. Home to the Dukes of Richmond since 1697, there is a palpable sense of history here, in a place that was designed purely for entertaining and pleasure. With its classic Regency architecture, fabulous collection of art and furniture, and breathtakingly beautiful grounds, it’s hard to imagine a more English setting for your wedding.

  6. Amberley Castle: Amberley Castle lies waiting to be discovered as a truly unique wedding venue. On the doorstep of the South Downs National Park, with its green rolling pastures, open spaces, ancient woodlands and river valleys Amberley Castle has been used exclusively by royalty, politicians and VIPs throughout its history. 12 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens (roamed by a resident white peacock) set the scene and the castle is still completely enclosed by a high curtain wall, with the medieval stonework forming an evocative backdrop to your special day.

  7. West Dean Gardens: A beautiful wedding reception venue in West Sussex. Marquee/tipi receptions for up to 200 guests are held on the picnic lawn or front lawn and the features of the Gardens offer idyllic photo opportunities.

  8. Fontwell Park: Set within 65 acres of beautiful countryside, Fontwell Park is a charming local wedding venue near Arundel and Chichester. Providing a stunning setting for your wedding day.   9. Findon Manor: A charming hotel that dates back to the 15th century and is set in beautiful lawned gardens which provides the perfect backdrop for your wedding day. Licensed to hold civil ceremonies & partnerships and approved by the registrar to conduct the ceremony and vows for up to 100 people indoors with the option for additional seating outside.

  10. Worthing Dome: Just moments away from the beautiful beach, the Dome Theatre Worthing is one of the town’s most iconic wedding venues. From those on a small budget to lavish weddings this is a great venue. Wedding photos on the beach are always a great addition to your collection.

  11. Selden Barns: Nestled in the South Downs National Park, Selden Barns Wedding Venue is set in an idyllic 50-acre,  rural location surrounded by fields, forests and hedgerows. The formal gardens to the west are bounded with flint and brick walls and the patio terrace looks east across the fields of grazing horses towards Patching Village, between Worthing and Arundel in West Sussex.

  12. Ghyll Manor: Nestled in the heart of the stunning Sussex countryside, this elegant 17th-century country-house hotel brims with character and style, the traditional oak-beamed building gazing out over acres of gorgeous private gardens, including a lake and pretty summerhouse. 29 rooms for you and your guests.

  13. Brookfield Barn: A relatively new barn wedding venue. The property underwent a total renovation in 2015, followed by the completion of the handcrafted oak-framed barn in the summer of 2016. The barn has a gorgeous backdrop through the bifold doors over the lake and golf course, and the oak pergola on the edge of the water are both licensed for civil ceremonies. Exclusive use of the venue for your wedding including the grounds, guest rooms and 9 hole golf course.

  14. Cissbury Barns: Cissbury Barns has a beautifully secluded setting nestled behind beautiful mature trees on the Cissbury Estate. Licensed for wedding ceremonies for up to 120 guests in their lovely East Barn.

  16. Long Furlong Barns: The Barns are located on the renowned ‘Furlong’ in Worthing, West Sussex, known for its stunning location in the South Downs National Park. Choose from the Cartshed, the Granary, or the Furlong View for outdoor ceremonies!

  17. Stanhill Court Hotel: A magnificent country manor house, built in 1881 and surrounded by acres of beautiful landscaped gardens and woodland. A stunning venue with idyllic views overlooking the Surrey Hills.

The Burlington Hotel: The oldest hotel in Worthing, and a now a listed building, The Burlington Hotel provides historic setting but with a contemporary twist, making the hotel one of the most popular and well-known landmarks in Worthing. A perfect location for weddings, on the seafront with a great view of Worthing’s Art Deco pier.

  19. Ockenden Manor: A lovely Elizabethan manor house with twenty-eight bedrooms set in nine acres of beautiful grounds with an award winning dining room. A charming location and building.

  20. Pelham House: Pelham house is located in Lewes, a historic town of charming cottages surrounded by the rolling hills of the South Downs. Thanks to its town centre location, a stone’s throw from the station, all of your friends and family can be in attendance. Yet with its peaceful landscaped gardens and clifftop views you’ll feel a million miles from anywhere.

  21. Pekes Manor: Pekes is a lovely old East Sussex pre-Tudor Manor House with five surrounding smaller houses, set among charming gardens within a small private estate approached by two long private drives. The estate sits peacefully in open countryside with absolutely stunning views all round, across the Wealden landscape and over to the South Downs.

  22. Southdowns Manor: A beautiful setting for the perfect wedding, this lovely Manor House provides a relaxed and intimate venue for smaller events or larger parties. Complete with a landscaped terrace, attractive gardens and wonderful views of South Downs National Park.

  25. Ashdown Park Hotel: A stunning neo-Gothic Grade II listed mansion house in the heart of the Ashdown Forest with a choice of period rooms, beautifully landscaped grounds, with a lovely secret garden.

  26. Buxted Park Hotel: Built in 1722 by Sir Thomas Medley, this 18th-century Palladian mansion house with a magnificent Victorian orangery and romantic period room is set in 312 acres of lush parkland. You can dine beneath chandeliers and finish your day in a bedroom once frequented by prestigious guests including William Wordsworth, Winston Churchill and Marlon Brando.

  27. Buckhurst Park: With its spectacular views of Buckhurst Park, its gardens and lakes, Buckhurst Park is the beautiful ancestral home of William Sackville, the 11th Earl De La Warr, and his wife Anne. To begin your special day, the nearby beautiful Parish Church of St Michael and All Angels, with ancient ties to the Sackville family, is available for your wedding ceremony if you would like this.

  28. The Ravenswood: Located near the Ashdown Forest, 10 minutes to The Bluebell Railway, and just 50 minutes from London, The Ravenswood is a beautiful and unique location with stunning backdrops, both inside and outside of the building. Ever popular for weddings due to the beautiful grounds and various locations suitable for stunning wedding portraits.

  29. Hendall Manor Barns: Hendall Manor Barns is a family owned, private and discreetly positioned exclusive use, dry hire wedding venue in the heart of the countryside. Occupying an elevated position south of the Ashdown Forest you can benefit from the exclusive use of the whole venue, including their stunning enclosed Terrace and Lawn.

  30. The Yoghurt Rooms: Just outside of East Grinstead this venue includes a wonderful oak-beamed barn with a huge open fireplace, chesterfield sofas, grand windows and imposing timber doorways, the Yoghurt Rooms barn's proportions are epic, seating up to 150 guests for your ceremony, dinner and evening do.
